We Grade After Surfacing

We have always believed that to grade hardwood lumber accurately for color or yield, you must do it after surfacing.

Over time we have created a niche and become known for providing special proprietary grades for our customers that offer important solutions for their manufacturing applications.

Softwood lumber is a structural material. Hardwoods are all about appearance and yield. What is that beautiful board going to look like once it’s made into cabinetry, flooring or furniture, particularly with a natural finish? We know that’s what our customers are concerned with. Our goal is not to hide defects to make more money, it’s to reveal defects, put them accurately in their proper grade sort, which adds value to the lumber we are selling.

We believe strongly in education, not only for our employees, but you and yours. We have an in-house Banks School with a well-rounded curriculum for both our visiting customers as well as those in need of training via Zoom calls or digital sharing. The more knowledgeable everyone is, the better off we all are.
